This month our Card Challenge was a design called the Corner Tuck Card. It's a pretty simple design but adds a bit of extra interest by tucking the front flap under the corner.
Here is my version:
I was delighted to use the new Stamp Set and Matching Dies in the Cheerful Daisies Bundle. I love the large die on the front, that is all one piece. My Designer Series Paper is from the Rain or Shine pack (retired) from the last Mini Catalog. Yes, it's retired, but it worked perfectly here :-D A current perfect choice would be the matching Fresh as a Daisy DSP that is also part of the Fresh as a Daisy Suite Collection.
I found the instructions for this card layout on my go to site for inspiration - Splitcoaststampers.com. The link to the tutorial by Dee Slater is here.
For the inside I stamped the Daisies from the set (two step stamping makes it easy to include a second color for the center of flowers) along with one of the sentiments. You can also see in this photo the corner flap on the back/inside panel:
In these next two photos you can see the inside open and also the card closed but unflapped - meaning not tucked into the corner.
And now cards from two of my friends using this same layout. I LOVE seeing how different people approach the same idea.
Kathleen Medina used the beautiful Apothecary Art Stamp set. This set was a favorite of mine for so long, until it retired. She chose to make her flap tuck into the bottom corner, and if you can see it in the photo she even embossed the flap of her envelope to match the white panel on her card front! So beautiful, I need to remember to do this sometimes :-)
This next photo shows the front 'unflapped'.
And here is Donna Winters' Fourth of July card using the same format. Donna, always creative, chose to do her front flap as a circle element! She too tucked hers into the bottom corner.
In my photo the embossed greeting looks gold, but it's actually black.
And, here below is her card "unflapped". You can see the God Bless America is actually black here.
I hope you enjoyed seeing three takes on one layout. Please join us in our monthly card challenges, it is a lot of fun. I think I'll add these challenges to my monthly calendar on my susiek.stampinup.net website going forward. If you do join us I'd love to post/share your cards on my blog too! Just email me your photo (or send me a card!) :-)
And below I will list the items that I used in my card (except the retired Designer Series Paper). I will link the Fresh As a Daisy DSP below, it matches the set.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
