This beautiful, dimensional peony was made using the Peony Dies from the Peony Garden Suite. This suite collection (pages 82-84 in the Annual Catalog) also contains my favorite papers in the catalog, the elegant Peony Garden Designer Series Paper, although I didn't use the paper on this card.
My card base is Petal Pink cardstock with a few background texture images from the Prized Peony stamp set stamped in Crumb Cake behind the focal image. I decided to move my main focal piece off center in the bottom left corner of the card - just for something different.
The main attraction, that fun 'jumps off the page' flower, was made from the Peony Dies using a piece of DSP from the Whale of a Time 6x6 pack. I did add a little bit of sponging before assembling the flower for added depth and interest with Calypso Coral ink and a sponge dauber.
My sentiment came from a retired stamp set called Needle and Thread.
When you purchase the Peony Dies it can look intimidating at first. There are 17 dies in the set. But 4 of them are used to create the layers of the flower - you will note they all have a similar shape on the bottom of the die, that stack perfectly - it's so much fun to put it together and watch the flower take shape right before your eyes! As a bundle you can save 10% if purchasing the stamp set and dies together.
Here you can see how the layers fit inside one another.
Two other announcements I want to share today. First, we are currently enjoying BONUS DAYS at StampinUp! Each $50 order in July (before tax and shipping) earns you a $5 coupon to be used in August.
If your order qualifies StampinUp will send you an email with a coupon code that you need to keep handy to use in August. There is no limit to how many coupons you can earn, so shop all month!
My last reminder is that I have a new Youtube Channel that I am just getting started with. I've started a new series called Back to Basics that I'll continue to add to. If you need some basic cardmaking tips and information I think you'll find this series helpful. My newest video in the series is all about StampinUp's Inks.
